A smashing time in Ilo!

We have had a good week here in Ilo. We have been encouraged by the numbers of children and young people attending their respective meetings. We realize that numbers aren´t everything but we have had the opportunity to share the gospel with many people. We were also doing some manual work. The guys helped make a floor and the girls smashed windows!
We received a warm welcome from the church in Ilo. They were grateful for our help and we were grateful for their kind hospitality.
We are heading back to the campsite this afternoon. Things have calmed down in Tacna. We hope to head there on Wednesday, though we aren´t sure for how long.
Please pray for
  • safety as we travel
  • continued progress with spanish
  • that we would learn from this week and improve for the next time

Christianity & other Religions. Romans XII.

Christianity differs from other religions in that it is;
The only religion based on love. Most other religions are based on fear.
It starts where all other religions end.
Other religions concern themselves with the attempt of man to reach such a standard that he will be acceptable to the deity he worships. Christianity starts there, for the appropraition by man of the sacrificial death and righteousness (II. Cor. V. 21) of Jesus Christ reconciles man with God and puts him in a position where he is accepted by God, and whence he starts to live out his faith "to the glory of God" and to the help of mankind.
Christianity puts womanhood in a totally different position to that which it occupies in other religions. Chivalry, courtesy and respect for the weaker sex are unknown outside Christianity.
Christianity is the only religion which, in laying down a standard of life, gives power for man to reach that standard.
Let it be remembered, too, that Christianity is centered in a PERSON rather in a mere "CREED." We do not necessary need to become more "religious," but we do need to be more like Christ. Many men laugh at "religion," but few laugh at Jesus Christ.
Psalm 19 V. 4.
