Still havn´t thought of an interesting title!

We are currently in Ilo. We are staying in the church and have no running water! From now on we might appreciate cold showers a bit more! We have been invovled in door to door work and we have also been cleaning the church. Over the next week we will be helping at the midweek, youth, ladies and childrens meetings as well as the sunday services. We are here until Monday. We were due to go to Tacna next week but there has been some trouble in South Peru over the last few weeks. There have been strikes and a lot of violence. We are all fine but it has meant that the anniversary service has been postponed until the end of the month as people couldnt travel to Ite. Things in Ilo have settled down but Tacna is still particularly bad. Emergency rule has been imposed. We are unsure about whether we will be able to go there next week. Some of the team members are from Tacna and are concerned about their families. Please pray that this situation would be resolved soon.

Dear Roberta,
At last I can rise up from the lethargy of the past two or three weeks. That first symptom of returning joy has come back into my life and with avengance. Once again our Beloved Master beckons.
Ally-Banter tells me you are fed up with rice. Why don't you try one of my favourites, asparagus soup.I have been eating it at least three times per week for the past three years and have not tired of it. At the moment we import asparagus from Peru so you shouldn't have difficulty getting it. The recipe is simple. Half a bundle of asparagus, two onions and two or three floury potatoes. Drain them well, put them in a saucepan with a piece of butter the size of a small egg, and two lumps of sugar, cover with a butterpaper and cook very slowly for a few minutes.
I couldn't help but chuckle at the thought of you weilding a shovel. At the Iron Hall we can now say we have our own "Bob the Builder" or should I say "Rob the Builder".
On a more serious note it also reminds me that you are in Peru to help lay and extend the foundations of Christ's Church in that country. I am consious of what you say regarding the unrest in Southern Peru. My dearest prayer is that you will not be exposed to any trouble. Watch and pray.

God bless you, Roberta.
